Whole-House Rewiring in Port Hadlock, WA

Safely replace outdated, ungrounded or damaged wiring in older homes.

Whole-House Rewiring for Jefferson County homes

Many homes in Port Townsend, Port Hadlock and Chimacum were built long before modern electrical standards. Knob-and-tube, ungrounded two-wire circuits, cloth-insulated cable and amateur add-ons are common. They may still work, but they weren't designed for today's appliances, and insulation breaks down with age.

Rewiring doesn't have to mean gutting the house. We plan routes through attics, crawlspaces and closets to minimize wall openings, and we can work room by room so you can stay in your home during the project.

The local angle

Port Townsend's Victorian homes and the peninsula's old farmhouses have character worth preserving. We take extra care with plaster, trim and original details while bringing the wiring up to date.

Reed Electrical has served the Olympic Peninsula since 2010, and Ron Reed brings 22 years of hands-on experience to every job. We're 100% residential, so we know how to work cleanly in an occupied home and how to keep a builder's schedule on track. When the work needs a Washington State electrical permit, we pull it and schedule the inspection.

FAQ

Whole-House Rewiring FAQ

How long does a whole-house rewire take?

It depends on size, access and construction. After an on-site look we'll give you a realistic timeline.

Can I stay in my home during rewiring?

Usually yes. We work in phases and restore power to living areas at the end of each day whenever possible.

Is knob-and-tube dangerous?

Aged knob-and-tube has no ground, brittle insulation and is often buried in insulation it wasn't designed for. Many insurers won't cover it. Replacing it is a smart safety step.
