Reed Electrical
Generator & Transfer Switch Installation in Port Hadlock, WA
Keep the lights, well pump and heat running through peninsula windstorms.
Generator & Transfer Switch Installation for Jefferson County homes
If you've lived on the Olympic Peninsula through a winter, you know the drill: the wind picks up, the firs sway, and the power goes out — sometimes for hours, sometimes for days. A properly installed generator keeps your well pump, refrigerator, heat and lights running.
Reed Electrical installs standby generators and portable generator hookups with the transfer equipment that keeps your home and utility workers safe. We'll help you decide what needs to stay powered and size the system around that.
The local angle
Windstorms regularly knock out power across Jefferson, North Kitsap and Clallam counties, and rural lines are often the last restored. Homes out on Marrowstone, in Quilcene or along Hood Canal feel it most.
Reed Electrical has served the Olympic Peninsula since 2010, and Ron Reed brings 22 years of hands-on experience to every job. We're 100% residential, so we know how to work cleanly in an occupied home and how to keep a builder's schedule on track. When the work needs a Washington State electrical permit, we pull it and schedule the inspection.

Generator & Transfer Switch Installation FAQ
Standby or portable generator — which is better?
Standby generators start automatically and can power more of the home. Portable generators with an inlet and interlock are a lower-cost option. We'll help you weigh the trade-offs.
Can I just plug my generator into an outlet?
No. Backfeeding through an outlet is dangerous to you and to utility line workers. A transfer switch or interlock is required.
Do you sell generators?
We focus on the electrical installation. We'll talk through options and coordinate with your preferred equipment.
